Before you fly to Poland

Planning ahead

You can order and pick up your Zloty before you jet off to Poland, to make sure you have enough for little essentials, such as snacks, transport, food, water and, of course, fun times with friends and family.

It can be worth buying in advance, so you know exactly how much Zloty you’re getting for your Pounds. Leaving it last minute can make it harder to budget, because exchange rates can change at short notice.

Pick up your Zloty when you like

Our Click & Collect service lets you pick up your Zloty with your weekly shop, from over 400 Tesco stores. Or if you’d like to have your currency delivered right to your door, you will get free home delivery for online travel money orders of £500 or over.

Exchange rates can change throughout the day and will vary depending on whether you are buying in store, online or over the phone.

Useful money information about Poland and the Zloty (PLN)

Currency Denominations

  • Groszy comes in units of 1gr, 2gr, 5gr, 10gr, 20gr and 50gr
  • Zloty comes in banknotes of 10zł, 50zł, 100zł and 200zł

How to exchange Polish Zloty in Poland

Your home currency can be exchanged for Zloty at participating banks or currency exchange centre – known locally as a “Kantor”.

Kantors are similar to currency bureaux in the UK, and are typically found in convenient places, such as hotels and airports.

Exchange rates may vary depending on the day and where you’re exchanging. For example, Kantors in main cities tend to have better rates than those in smaller towns.

Withdrawing cash in Poland

  • Poland has a large network of ATMs called bankomat that supports withdrawals from UK bank accounts.
  • You may be charged several fees for withdrawals, which varies depending on your bank and the ATM you’re using.
  • If you are offered the choice, you’ll normally pay less in fees if you process the transaction in Zloty rather than Sterling, so you’ll keep your withdrawal rates as low as possible.
