Using Clubcard Pay+
You can top-up your Clubcard Pay+ account from any UK bank account. You could:
- Top-up in our Tesco Bank mobile app, by connecting to any of your other UK bank accounts
- Transfer from any UK bank account into your Clubcard Pay+ account
Your account comes with a debit card, so you can easily pay using the contactless card you’ll receive. Or if you’re an Apple user, you can add your card to your phone’s wallet and pay using your phone.
You’ll need to make sure your account has money in it by topping up your account.
Remember, you’ll collect Clubcard points almost every time you use your card in and out of Tesco. If you’re using Apple Pay in a Tesco Store, make sure to tap your physical Clubcard Pay+ card before you pay to benefit from Clubcard Prices and collect your Clubcard Points.
Yes, you can transfer from your Clubcard Pay+ account to any UK bank account easily in the Tesco Bank mobile app.
Clubcard Pay+ doesn’t allow:
- Direct Debits
- Standing Orders
- International transfers in or out of the account
- Sending of CHAPS payments
There’s no overdraft on Clubcard Pay+, but your balance can go below zero. For example, if a retailer accepts a debit card payment from you without checking to see if there’s enough money in your account.
We’ve set up an alert on your account to let you know by SMS if this happens. If your balance goes below zero, you must top up your Clubcard Pay+ account to zero or above immediately. If you do not bring your Clubcard Pay+ account balance to zero, we may take steps to suspend and ultimately close your Clubcard Pay+ and Round Up accounts. We’ll also let you know by SMS or email if there isn’t enough money in your account to cover payments due that day.
These 2 alerts are there to help you manage your account, but you can opt out of them by calling us on 0345 835 6295*.
*This number may be included as part of any inclusive call minutes provided by your phone operator.
There’s no fee for having and using a Clubcard Pay+ account in the UK.
If you transact with your Clubcard Pay+ debit card outside the UK, a 2.75% foreign exchange fee will apply. And if you make an ATM cash withdrawal outside the UK in a foreign currency (excluding Euros), you’ll need to pay an additional 1% cash withdrawal fee.
It’s important let us know if you change your mobile number and/or email address, so you can continue to get important information from us about Clubcard Pay+.
We’ll usually get in touch with you by SMS, email, push notification, or in-app messaging. You’ll find account communications in the statements and documents section in our mobile banking app, so make sure you check there regularly.
If you change your mind, you can cancel your account within 14 days of getting your Clubcard Pay+ debit card by contacting us on 0345 835 6295*. If the balance on your account(s) is below zero, you’ll need to bring your balance to zero before we can cancel your account(s).

Round Up
Round Up is a savings account provided with Clubcard Pay+. It grows by rounding up the transactions you make on your Clubcard Pay+ debit card to the nearest £1 (or more) and saving the difference.
Round Up is automatically switched on, though you can switch it on and off at anytime in the Mobile Banking App and even choose to round up to the nearest £5 on big shops.
You can withdraw money from your Round Up account to your Clubcard Pay+ account (and from there to any UK bank account), or to another Tesco Bank account in your name using our Mobile Banking App. Withdrawal limits apply
You can withdraw money from your Round Up account to your Clubcard Pay+ account (and from there to any UK bank account), or to another Tesco Bank account in your name using our Mobile Banking App.
For security, there's a maximum transfer limit of £100,000 per transaction, but there’s no limit on the number of transactions you can make each day.
Daily withdrawal limits may change from time to time, but we'll let you know if this happens.
Your Round Up account doesn’t come with a debit card, and you can’t use your Clubcard Pay+ debit card to make payments from it.
There are some cases where transactions won’t be rounded up, including:
- If a merchant doesn’t ask us to authorise your payment before they take it
- If there are insufficient funds in your account to cover the round up transaction
- Recurring transactions (e.g. subscriptions and automatic renewals of insurance policies)
As well as rounding up to the nearest £1 you can also round up to the nearest £5 for big shops. This is called Big Shop Big Round Up (BSBRU). You can turn BSBRU on and off in our Mobile Banking App and set the amount you want to count as a big shop.
For example, if you turn on BSBRU and set £50 as your ‘big shop’ value, a round up will be transferred into your Round Up account each time you spend over £50 to the next nearest multiple of £5. So, if you spend £52.50, we will round up to £55, and £2.50 will be added to your Round Up account.
You can earn 1.25% Gross/AER (variable) on the savings in your Round Up account.
Gross is the interest rate paid before tax is deducted.
Annual Equivalent Rate (AER) shows what the interest rate would be if it was paid and compounded each year. Interest is calculated daily and paid to you annually in March.
You can read more about what this means in the Round Up Summary Boxbelow.
This table sets out key information you should know about the account. It should be read together with the Clubcard Pay+ terms and conditions and forms part of our agreement with you.

Collecting Clubcard points
Your Clubcard Pay+ debit card is also your Clubcard.
When you pay with your Clubcard Pay+ card, you’ll receive:
- The standard Clubcard points collection rate at Tesco of 1 Clubcard point for every £1 spent
- An enhanced rate of 1 point for every 1 litre of Tesco fuel bought, excluding Esso (usually 1 Clubcard point for every 2 litres bought with just a Clubcard)
- In addition you'll collect 1 Clubcard point for every £8 spent outside Tesco
Pick up extra points: For the first 3 months (100 days, to be exact) after you open your Clubcard Pay+ account, you’ll collect 2 points for every £1 you spend using your Clubcard Pay+ debit card on qualifying products at Tesco (excludes Tesco fuel and Esso). That’s 1 extra Clubcard point for every £1 you spend. After 100 days, you'll go back to the normal Clubcard point collection rate for using Clubcard Pay+ at Tesco (1 Clubcard point for every £1 spent).
Tesco fuel: for the first 3 months (100 days, to be exact) after you open your Clubcard Pay+ account, you’ll collect 1 extra point for every £1 spent on Tesco fuel. After 100 days, your points will be collected at the enhanced Clubcard Pay+ rate.
These extra points can take up to 5 working days to arrive in your Clubcard account and will show as ‘TB Clubcard Pay+ Tesco spend’.
Points are calculated on each debit card purchase transaction and collection rates are subject to change. Exclusions apply and there are some products at Tesco you won’t collect points on.
The Tesco Clubcard Scheme is administered by Tesco Stores Limited, Tesco House, Shire Park, Kestrel Way, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 1GA, who are responsible for fulfilling Clubcard points.
While you can collect Clubcard points on most of your debit card transactions, there are some exclusions, including:
- Debit card transactions of £100,000 or more
- Refunds
- Bills at banks or other financial institutions
- Cash withdrawals (including cashback)
- Gambling, purchasing travel money and purchasing foreign currency
- Paying funds into savings accounts (including NS&I accounts)
- Purchasing shares or making a deposit into a share-dealing account
There are also some products at Tesco you can’t collect points on, see the Tesco Clubcard website for details.
Every 3 months your Clubcard points are turned into Clubcard vouchers. Or you can choose to get them quicker with Faster Vouchers.
Your vouchers can be used to spend at Tesco, in store or on fuel (excluding Esso), or they can be exchanged to get up to 2x the value of your vouchers with Tesco Reward Partners.
When you open a Clubcard Pay+ account you will be automatically enrolled into the Clubcard Scheme if you’re not already a member.
Tesco Bank will share information with Tesco Stores to help run your Clubcard account.
Clubcard accounts are managed separately by Tesco Stores, and you should visit the Tesco Stores privacy notice for further information about how Tesco Stores uses your information.
Financial Services Compensation Scheme
Your eligible deposits with Tesco Bank are currently protected up to the current Financial Services Compensation Scheme limit, the UK's deposit protection scheme. Any deposits you hold above the current limit are not covered.
