Almost two thirds (64%) of credit card users seek rewards when spending

Almost two-thirds (64%) of credit card holders actively hunt down rewards when using their credit card to shop, with a third (34%) collecting rewards or points at least once a week, according to Tesco Bank’s latest research.
Those aged 18-34 are the biggest reward hunters (75%), followed by those aged 35-54 (62%) and those aged 55+ (58%).
Shoppers have used the points or rewards they’ve collected from spending on their credit cards on the following:

In addition, analysis into Tesco Bank’s own internal credit card data from this year (January 2025 - August 2025) demonstrated how credit card customers are collecting Clubcard points wherever they spend. Tesco Bank credit card customers collected a monthly average of 210 million points when shopping out of store, followed by earning 46m points in Tesco stores, 8m on their fuel spending, and 660k from buying travel money.
Mamta Shanbhag, Borrow Director at Tesco Bank, commented:
“Credit card holders are clearly making their spending work hard for them, ensuring they get rewarded for their purchases. And with a third making sure they collect points on a weekly basis, these can build up quickly.
Rewards programmes are a great way to take money off your final bill, whether that’s through initial sign-up offers, collecting points, or member discounts. Tesco Bank credit card holders can collect Clubcard points on their everyday spending, which can be turned into vouchers or redeemed with Clubcard reward partners.”
