Over 50s Plan - What's in it for me?

  • Tesco Over 50s Plan is a simple cover, costing from just £7 a month - that's the equivalent of only 23p a day.
  • A cash lump sum will be paid out if you die after two years.
  • The plan will also pay out for Accidental Death in the first two years.
  • The plan will pay one and a half times the premiums paid, if you die during the first two years of cover (other than by accident).
  • If you're aged between 50 and 80 and a UK resident you will be accepted - guaranteed. There's no need for a medical and no health questions to answer.
  • Your monthly premiums will never go up - and the amount you're insured for will never go down.
  • You'll be covered as long as you continue to pay each month. If you live beyond 90 years of age you won't have to pay any more premiums - but we'll still pay out.
  • Note that you may pay in more than we pay out. Because the sum assured is fixed its real value will be reduced by the effects of inflation.

Some claims for accidental death are excluded, for example:

We won't pay the cash sum if you die from an accident in the first two years of the plan if the cause of death is directly or indirectly as a result of one of the following:

  • Deliberately self-inflicted injury, including suicide or attempted suicide
  • Participation or attempted participation in an aerial flight other than as a fare-paying passenger on a licensed airline
  • War (whether declared or not)
  • Active participation in a criminal offence, riot or civil commotion
  • Taking or being affected by alcohol or drugs (except those prescribed by a doctor registered in the United Kingdom)
  • Disease, bodily or mental infirmity or medical or surgical treatment of these, or where the life assured acts against medical advice.

In these cases, the plan will pay one and a half times the premiums paid.

  • One offer per policy.
  • This offer is only available to Clubcard customers. The Clubcard number must be provided at time of quote.
  • The Clubcard must be in your name.
  • Points will appear in the next available statement; this may not be the next statement you receive.
  • If you cancel your policy within the first 6 months, we reserve the right not to fulfil the Clubcard points.
