Helpful information

If you've had an issue with one of our ATMs or see any suspicious devices on or around an ATM, please inform store security or call the police on 101 or phone NatWest on 0800 015 3199. Do not touch or attempt to remove any devices.

In the unlikely event that one of our machines doesn't give you all the cash you requested, you will need to contact your own bank to see if your account has been debited. If it has and the money is shown as withdrawn, your card issuer will make a claim on your behalf to return the money to your account.

You can withdraw up to your card's daily limit which is set by your own bank or card issuer. Find out exactly how much you can withdraw by choosing to view your balance at our machines.

Our machines can issue up to £250 in one transaction.

Most banks allow three unsuccessful attempts of keying in your PIN. After that, depending on your own bank, your card may be retained or locked. If this happens you need to contact your own bank or card issuer and they will be able to help you.

If your card was retained, whatever the reason, there’s nothing Tesco can do about this sadly. You will need to contact your card issuer who will tell you why your card was retained and issue you with a new card.

If your card has a chip you can change your PIN at any cash machine at Tesco. For security, the best way to choose a PIN is to avoid obvious sequences of numbers (e.g. 1234 or 6789 etc) or obvious numbers such as your date of birth. Instead, find a number that's memorable to you.

Tesco has launched a National Charity Partnership with Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.

For every transaction made on ATMs at Tesco stores from 05/01/2015 to 31/12/2017, we will donate 0.00625p to each of the Tesco National Charity Partners.

          • Diabetes UK operating in the name of The British Diabetic Association, a company limited by guarantee. Registered as a charity in England & Wales (No 215199) and in Scotland (SC039136).
          • The British Heart Foundation, a registered charity in England and Wales (225971) and in Scotland (SC039426).

Your bank may charge you for credit card cash advances and transactions with cards issued outside the United Kingdom.

You can also choose to donate to any of our chosen charities shown below direct from your account. We don't charge you for this service, all money you donate goes directly to the charity. Charitable donations made through ATMs do not qualify for Gift Aid. Not all cards can use this service, if you're not sure check with your card provider.
