Credit Card Application Outcomes

When you apply for your Clubcard Credit Card there are three outcomes. Your application will be accepted, referred or declined. Here’s what each result means:

Referred

If your application has been referred it might be because your application wasn't fully completed or there might not have been enough information on your credit history.

If this happens your application will go into a referral queue and someone from Tesco Bank will be in touch for more information.

Accepted

After you've filled out the necessary information, either online or over the phone, and everything goes to plan your application will be accepted. You should then receive your Clubcard Credit Card.

Declined

It's not as bad as you think. You might not have completed all the sections in your application form correctly or there might not be enough information on your credit history.

If your application is declined it may be because you have a limited file. If you haven't had a credit card before it will be difficult to build your credit profile.

Credit card applications can be declined if you haven't been at your current job for a long enough amount of time.

Being declined for a credit card could also have a negative impact on your application.

If your application has been declined you won't be able to apply for another six months.

If your application is successful you will receive your Clubcard Credit Card and you'll be soon be able to start collecting your Clubcard points.
