With your help our aim was to raise £65,000 towards the Tesco Charity of the Year 2011 target of raising £5 million for Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland.
The money you've helped to raise will fund essential research and bring dementia information, advice and support to communities all over the UK, helping to build a better future for people with dementia.
By simply using a cash machine at Tesco, you've helped to donate a total of £74,000 to Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland.
Facts about dementia
There are 750,000 people living with dementia in the UK and another 100,000 people will develop dementia this year. Together, Alzheimer's Society, Alzheimer Scotland and Tesco want to try and make sure they don't face it alone.
Dementia can happen to anyone, there is no cure. It is caused by disease of the brain; symptoms include loss of memory, confusion and problems with speech and understanding. The number of people with dementia is increasing each year but most do not get the support or advice they desperately need. It is progressive and eventually terminal: one in three people over 65 will die with the condition.
