Before you get a Pet Insurance Quote

Please read carefully through the important information below before you progress.

Step one of four

There are a few things you need to know before you get your online quote:

You can arrange to pay annually for your pet insurance if you want to, but you must be the holder of the payment card you intend to use.
Please make sure the information you give us is accurate, as the wrong information could affect your cover. If the information you provide is not accurate, we may reduce or reject your claim, or cancel your policy without a refund.
If you're insuring more than one pet, please make sure that the information you provide is accurate for each pet.
If you want to insure more than three pets on one policy, please call us on 0345 072 2112 to get an accurate quote, which includes our multi-pet discount offer. This number may be included as part of any inclusive call minutes provided by your phone operator.
We'll search our records for your Tesco Clubcard number, and we may access and use information (including transactional information, name and address) from your Clubcard. This will help us and your insurer to assess your premium and will only be used to make a positive impact on your premium.

Standard, Extra and Premier Pet Insurance

Although our policies cover a broad range of scenarios, we can't cover every eventuality, so please see the list below for the things that aren't included:

  • Policies don't cover pre-existing medical conditions.
  • Changes you or your vet notice in your pet's health, or behaviour, before your cover start date, aren't covered. Illness or injuries that develop from these changes are also not covered.
  • Changes you or your vet notice in your pet's health, or behaviour, in the first 14 days of your cover start date, aren't covered. Illness or injuries that develop from these changes are also not covered. This exclusion only applies in the first policy period for a pet.
  • If your pet(s) suffer from an illness that your vet advised you to vaccinate against and keep your pet(s) vaccinated against, we won't provide cover unless the vaccination didn't work and treatment is needed.

Accident & Injury Pet Insurance

Unfortunately, this policy won't provide cover for your pets in the following situations:

  • Policies don't cover pre-existing medical conditions.
  • Changes you or your vet notice in your pet's health, or behaviour, before your cover start date, aren't covered. Injuries that develop from these changes are also not covered.
  • Any accident or injury in the first 5 days of your cover start date isn't covered. Any illness that develops from any accident or injury is also not covered. This exclusion only applies in the first policy period for a pet.

Step three of four

Please make sure all of the following statements are true before continuing with the quote:

You have never had any pet policy covering this pet declared void or cancelled by the insurer.
You are the owner and keeper of the pet.
You are over 18 years of age.
You and the pet on the policy live in the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands.
Your pet is at least 8 weeks old.
Your pet is not used for business, commercial breeding or for monetary gain.
And if you're insuring a dog
Your dog is not trained to attack, used in any form or racing, or for security purposes.
Your dog has not been the cause of accident or legal action, or had any complaints about its behaviour.
Your dog is not a cross or pure breed Dogo Argentino, Fila Brazillero, Japanese Tosa, Pit Bull Terrier, Wolf, or Wolf hybrid.
Your dog is not a type of dog which should be registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991 or the Dangerous Dogs (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 or any subsequent amendments.
