Tesco Legal Guard
Tesco Legal Guard provides cover of up to £100,000 for legal fees and costs, to help you or a member of your family who normally lives with you to claim compensation or to defend your or their legal rights.
Tesco Legal Guard can assist if you or your family need to:
- Claim compensation for personal injury following an accident where someone else is to blame or;
- Pursue or defend your legal rights for certain disputes relating to:
- Employment
- Your home and possessions
- Certain types of consumer contract, such as buying and selling goods or services (except for disputes relating to most financial services products)
- Defence of work related prosecutions and motoring prosecutions (except parking offences or driving without a licence or insurance)
Tesco Legal Guard will choose the advisor to act on your behalf, however if legal proceedings are started, you can choose your own advisor who must agree to Tesco Legal Guard's terms of business.
Cover applies if there is a greater than 50% chance of your claim being successful. In circumstances where compensation or damages is being sought, there must also be a greater than 50% chance of enforcing any judgement obtained.
Cover is not provided to pursue personal injury claims for clinical negligence or medical malpractice.
Please note that if you have any other legal protection cover, there may be an element of overlap with this cover.
In addition you have the benefit of a legal helpline (Exclusions apply).
Use of the telephone helpline will be limited to two separate phone calls (excluding any call backs agreed) up to a maximum of 30 minutes overall.
