What is and isn't included - Tesco Child Health Plan

Tesco Child Health Plan provided by
AXA PPP healthcare, is designed to cover your child for treatment that the NHS may not cover quickly - this may be in a private hospital or as a private patient in an NHS hospital.

If your child requires emergency or urgent treatment, the NHS will treat them.

What is covered?

  • Tesco Child Health Plan is designed to cover your child for treatment that the NHS may not be able to provide quickly.
  • This may be in a private hospital or as a private patient in an NHS hospital.

As with all insurance policies there are things that won't be covered. See the exclusions below for further information.

What isn't covered?

  • Ongoing, recurring or long- term treatment of illnesses (known as chronic conditions)
  • Pre-existing medical conditions suffered in the five years immediately before the policy started. If the condition doesn't reoccur two years after joining, there may be cover available in the future
  • There is limited cover for follow up consultations and tests once a diagnosis has been made
  • The 6-week wait applies to eligible treatment, from the date the treatment should be undertaken
