What is Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) and can I get it?
The BNPL scheme allows UK Tesco Credit Card customers to buy selected items of £250 and over from Tesco direct at 0% for a fixed number of months.
BNPL applies to selected items only, available for purchase over the phone only and is not available for purchases made online.
This offer is only available to Tesco Credit Card customers who hold a current, UK credit card issued by Tesco Bank, with sufficient remaining credit to cover the full cost of their order. BNPL is not available to Tesco business credit card holders and Tesco Ireland credit card holders.
How will I know what items are available with BNPL?
Selected items available with BNPL in the Tesco direct and Tesco home catalogues will be clearly marked.
BNPL is only available on selected items £250 and over available for purchase over the phone.
When placing your order over the phone, have the catalogue number handy and the Tesco member of staff at the end of the line will let you know if BNPL is available on the item you have selected. If not, they will let you know if a similar product is available from the selected list.
Your card and credit limit will then be validated. The minimum repayment on your credit card is not changed.
How can I pay off my BNPL purchase?
You can pay off all or part of your BNPL balance by making a payment to your credit card account and calling Tesco Bank on 0845 300 7183 to tell us that this is what you want to do.
You can also make a payment with your debit card by calling 0845 300 7183 (Typetalk 18001 0845 300 71 83) and specifically requesting to do so at any time and for no additional fee.
We recommend you allow two full working days for your payment to reach your account but please check with your bank exactly how long it will take for the payment to reach us. Payments will reduce the BNPL balances nearest to expiry first. Standard monthly payments to your account will first be applied to reduce any other balances on your account, before reducing your BNPL balances.
If I normally clear all my balance in full every month by Direct Debit, will my BNPL purchases be automatically cleared each month?
No. Your BNPL balance will not be cleared until the end of the offer period. At the end of this period the outstanding BNPL balance is treated as a normal purchase balance and will be taken from your account at the next Direct Debit date. Please ensure you have sufficient funds to cover the full Direct Debit amount.
If I want to repay my BNPL offer before it expires, what do I do?
You can pay off all or part of your BNPL balance with your debit card by calling 0845 300 7183 and specifically requesting to do so at any time and for no additional fee.
If you clear your full outstanding balance, any additional payments you may make will go towards any BNPL balance you may have on your account.
What will happen if I don't have enough credit available on my card? Can I still get BNPL?
You can pay off all or part of your BNPL balance at any stage before the BNPL period expires, with no penalties. You can do this by making a payment to your credit card account and calling 0845 300 7183 to tell us this is what you want to do.
You can also make a payment with your debit card by calling 0845 300 7183.
Payments will reduce the BNPL balances nearest to expiry first.
What happens to my BNPL amount at the end of the BNPL period?
At the end of a BNPL period, the outstanding balance will automatically be treated as a normal purchase balance and charged at your standard purchase interest rate.
Your standard purchase interest rate may vary depending on your current Tesco Credit Card purchase rate. The amount will, from then on, be included in your minimum payment calculation and will no longer be displayed separately in your summary of balances.
How will I know my BNPL item(s) on my credit card statement?
Your statements will show your BNPL balances separately within the Summary of Balances section. Two months and one month before your BNPL offer ends, we will tell you in your credit card statement that your 6 months offer period is about to end.
Do I collect Clubcard points on my BNPL?
Yes. You can collect Clubcard points as you would in store with the BNPL offer. You will also collect extra Clubcard points by purchasing the item on your Tesco Credit Card as per your current credit card points earn rate. Must have available credit. (Extra points are not applicable to the Tesco Bonus Credit Card).
What do I do if I need to return my product?
If the product you purchased from Tesco direct needs to be returned, please call 0845 600 4411. Tesco will happily refund or exchange the item within 28 days of receipt provided it is returned as sold with all the original packaging, tags, labels and accessories.
