How it works?

To purchase an item with Buy Now Pay Later with your Clubcard Credit Card, call Tesco direct on the number below.

  1. Select the item you want to order from the Tesco direct website or from the Tesco direct or Tesco home catalogue - you can pick up a copy in store.
  2. Call us on 0845 600 44 11 (Typetalk 18001 0800 600 4411). Have the catalogue numbers and your Clubcard Credit Card details to hand.
  3. We’ll let you know if your item is available with Buy Now Pay Later. If not, we can tell you if a similar product is available from the selected list.
  4. Pay with your Clubcard Credit Card and collect extra points.*
  5. Two months and one month before your Buy Now Pay Later offer ends, we will tell you in your credit card statement that your 6 months interest free period is about to end.

Wait for your item to be delivered to your home or collect if from your local Tesco store.

*Extra points do not apply to Tesco Bonus Credit Card customers. Points applied for each purchase and minimum spend applies. Must have available credit.

Terms and conditions

Once your Buy Now Pay Later period has ended, we treat the outstanding balance as a normal purchase balance. You'll be charged interest on it at your standard purchase interest rate which may vary depending on your current Clubcard Credit Card purchase rate. Your minimum repayment on your credit card is not changed.

Your Buy Now Pay Later balance must be paid off in full before the end of the six-month offer period to pay no interest. This offer period applies to selected items only. If you choose to close your existing Clubcard Credit Card account your outstanding Buy Now Pay Later period will also be cancelled.

Ensure you have enough credit remaining on your card to pay for the item and take up the Buy Now Pay Later offer.

Payment Protection Insurance

You have the option to take out Tesco Payment Protection Insurance for your credit card. The insurance provides cover for you if you’re unable to work for more than 14 consecutive days due to:

  • Accident
  • Sickness
  • Involuntary unemployment (voluntary redundancy excluded).

This policy pays 10% of your outstanding credit card balance (calculated on the date your claim arises) each month for a maximum of 12 months per claim. In the event of your death the insurance will pay off your outstanding credit card balance less any amount over your credit limit.

This insurance contains terms and conditions which means that in certain circumstances this insurance will not pay benefits. Full details of when this insurance will and will not pay out are contained in the policy booklet which will be issued with your quote and is available below. Examples of significant exclusions are: Claims which result from self-inflicted injuries, Being under the influence of drink or drugs, being fired from your job or unemployment within 30 days of the start date.

Are you eligible for cover?

Tesco Payment Protection Insurance only covers people who are:

  • 18 years or over but under 65
  • In full-time employment or self-employed, working at least 16 hours per week
  • Work and live in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man
  • Named as the principal cardholder under the card agreement.

If you don’t meet this criteria you’re not eligible for the cover under this policy.

How much does it cost?

The monthly cost of the insurance is 79p for every £100 of your highest balance on your statement each month. This price includes Insurance Premium Tax. This will be calculated monthly and added to your outstanding credit card balance as at the date of your statement.

This means, for example, the cost of the insurance appearing on your monthly statement would be £1.58 for the month if your highest credit card balance for that month was £200 or £7.90 if the balance was £1,000.

We have also calculated the cost of our Payment Protection Insurance as a monthly cost for every £100 of monthly benefit. This shows how much this insurance costs you each month for every £100 in benefit that you would receive each month if you successfully claimed for accidents, sickness or unemployment. Under this policy, for every £7.90 that you pay as a monthly premium, you’ll get £100 for each full month that the claim lasts. This can be used to make comparisons with the cost of insurance from other providers.

Remember, the policy premium will be automatically added to the amounts you owe on your credit card. This will be treated as a purchase transaction, which means that where interest is due on the transaction it will be charged at your purchase rate.

  • Once the account opens, complete part 2 of the form and return to the address provided. No stamp is needed.
  • You'll both then receive 1000 Clubcard points
