Using your debit card abroad

Here's what you need to know before you go

It's safe and easy to use your Tesco debit card overseas – and you can still collect Clubcard points while you’re away. There are just a few things to be aware of before you go, like fees, charges and security.

Here are just a few things to bear in mind when you’re travelling abroad

  • There's no need to ring us to let us know you're going - normal process will apply to any transactions you make abroad
  • Take a note of the customer service number on the back of your card
  • Use your card as you normally would, and get Clubcard points on your spend
  • If you need to log on to Online Banking from unknown devices, make sure your mobile phone will be with you and working, as we will have to send you a one-time access code by text (network charges may apply)
  • Check your account for any unfamiliar transactions, and give us a call immediately if you see anything suspicious

Overseas network charges

You’ll need an internet connection to use our mobile app. It's best to check with your mobile carrier what they charge for roaming data usage as this can get quite expensive. We recommend that you connect to a wi-fi to use the app.

Feel right at home when you're away

  • Your card will work in the same way abroad as it does at home – just remember your PIN
  • Use the Mobile App to keep track of your spending (network charges may apply)
  • Log in to Online Banking to manage your money (network charges may apply)How to log in
