ATM Donation Programme
Tesco Bank is now providing its customers, and anyone that uses ATMs at Tesco, with the opportunity to donate to one of seven charities. From 14 June 2012 you'll be able to donate up to £300, or to the limit your card issuer has set, at ATMs at over 2200 Tesco stores across the country.
The charities customers can donate to at these ATMs are:
- Diabetes UK
- Action for Children
- Barnardo's
- Save the Children
- Teenage Cancer Trust
- Together for Short Lives
- Disasters Emergency Committee
We don't charge you for this service. All the money you donate goes directly to the charity. Not all cards can use this service, if you're not sure yours does please check with your card issuer.
In addition, for every transaction made on ATMs at Tesco stores from 1 March 2013 to 28 February 2014, 0.0125p will be donated to Diabetes UK. Diabetes UK is a charity registered in England and Wales (No 215199) and in Scotland (SC039136).
Your questions answered:
Why are we providing this service?
As part of the financial services industry's commitment to the Government's proposals on charitable giving, all financial institutions in the LINK network are committed to allowing consumers to give charity contributions through any ATM in the UK.
How did we choose our charities?
ATMs at Tesco stores are run by our team at Tesco Bank. To continue the theme of the Tesco Bank Community Programme, 'Supporting Young People', all the charities we've selected have this as their overall aim.
Why is Gift Aid not being applied to this donation?
Tesco and Tesco Bank supports charitable giving including offering customers the opportunity to make charitable donations via our ATM networks. Currently Gift Aid cannot be claimed on ATM donations across the UK. The UK Cash Machine Network, Link and HM Treasury are working together to provide the industry with a solution to this problem. This will ensure that charities get the full benefit of donations made at ATMs.
